The sad moon is weaving her shroud;
The pale, drooping lily-bells quake;
The river is sobbing aloud.
–Amanda Theodosia Jones
Lilies are commonly associated with death, some say they symbolise the departed soul being restored with innocence and purity in heaven, and are a traditional funeral flower choice. While creating this sheaf, we thought of these lines in Amanda Theodosia Jones’ poem. The stunning lilies represent little shrouds, with trailing ruscus and lily grass weaving through the arrangement like a river, and tied with organza ribbon.
